Techniques for Creating Captivating Images By Cathy and Gordon Illg
Reviewed by Heather Forcier

It seems like I rarely get the chance to read books anymore, but once I got my hands on Dynamic Wildlife Photography I found it an easy and interesting read. The introduction immediately struck a chord and the writing reflects the authors’ warm personality plus humor specific to our endeavors in nature photography. I enjoyed reading about the Illg’s experiences and their lessons learned in the field or at the light table and feel I benefited from the sharing.

The book covers many principles I was already familiar with, but in the interest of self-betterment I welcome any opportunity to stir the creative juices. And that’s what this book does for me, covering “documentary versus beyond documentary” concepts, lighting, composition, perspective, animal behavior, seasons, moods and more. Without a doubt I will refer back to this book over time to keep my artistic thought process going.

Dynamic Wildlife Photography and other nature photography books can be purchased via Amazon.com, Amazon.ca (Canada), and Amazon.co.uk (United Kingdom) through the NatureScapes.Net store.
